Real weather data and crowd patterns for Marrakech, month by month, so you can pick the right season for sightseeing, outdoor events, or a poolside stay.
Marrakech Privée Local Insight
The city peaks twice a year: spring and autumn. If you want quieter streets and better hotel availability, early March or mid-November are the sweet spots we recommend most often.
Planning Note
Ramadan shifts roughly ten days earlier each year. During Ramadan, many daytime restaurants close and evenings become livelier — worth knowing before you book.
Marrakech Climate at a Glance
Marrakech sits on a high plain at the foot of the Atlas Mountains, which gives it a dry, sunny climate for most of the year and a genuine four-season rhythm: hot, dry summers; mild, occasionally rainy winters; and two long shoulder seasons with near-perfect weather.
Because the city is inland, nights cool down even in summer, and winter mornings can be genuinely cold before the sun climbs. Packing for the season you choose matters more here than in most Mediterranean cities.
Spring (March to May)
Daytime temperatures sit between 20°C and 28°C with clear skies, and the city's gardens are at their most colorful. This is the busiest season for tourism, so book hotels, rooftop tables, and balloon flights several weeks ahead. Evenings stay cool — bring a light layer for dinners on terraces.
Spring is also the most reliable window for outdoor weddings and garden events, with dry skies and comfortable evening temperatures.
Summer (June to August)
From June to August the medina heats up, often past 40°C by mid-afternoon. Locals plan around the heat: excursions run early morning, midday is for pools and shaded courtyards, and evenings stay lively until late.
The Atlas Mountains and the Agafay Desert stay noticeably cooler than the city at altitude and at night, which is why summer camps and mountain lunches remain popular. If you are heat-sensitive, choose a villa or hotel with a large pool and keep the middle of the day indoors.
Autumn (September to November)
September and October combine warm days with empty terraces — in our experience two of the most pleasant months of the year. September is still hot enough for swimming; October is ideal for long walks through the medina and day trips to the mountains.
November marks the start of the quieter season, with cooler evenings, shorter queues at the main sights, and noticeably softer prices at hotels.
Winter (December to February)
Winter is mild and sunny by European standards, with daytime highs around 18-22°C and crisp nights. This is the quietest period: the souks feel relaxed and hotel availability is at its best.
The High Atlas receives real snowfall, and many visitors combine the city with a mountain day — driving up to snow levels for a lunch with a view, or a half-day on the slopes.
Best Months for Outdoor Events
For weddings, retreats, and garden events, late April to early June and late September to early November are our most reliable windows: warm days, dry skies, and pleasant evenings.
Mid-summer works well when the venue has evening cooling, and winter events are wonderful indoors with fireplaces and candlelight. Tell us your preferred dates and we will be honest about the trade-offs for that exact weekend.
