Marrakech Airport Guide: Arrivals, Transfers & Getting Started

Menara is Marrakech's international airport, about fifteen to twenty minutes from the city centre by car. It has a modern terminal with direct flights from most major European cities and good connections through Casablanca.

For a city that hosts millions of visitors a year, the airport is compact and practical: arrivals, baggage, and the landside exit are close together, so meeting a driver or finding transport is straightforward.

Most visitors pass through passport control quickly, though summer and spring weekends can bring short queues. After collecting baggage you exit into the arrivals hall, where drivers and taxi desks wait.

Currency exchange and ATMs are available landside. We recommend carrying a small amount of local currency for the first day — tips, small purchases, and the calèche ride from the medina gate are easier with cash.

The standard options are a pre-booked transfer, an official taxi from the stand, or a ride with your hotel or riad.

A pre-booked transfer is the smoothest: your driver waits with a name board, handles luggage, and takes you door-to-door — including the final short walk to a riad inside the walls. Taxis from the stand are fine, but fares are negotiated and you will carry your own bags. For first visits and late arrivals, we recommend the pre-booked option.

For clients who want everything handled, we arrange meet-and-greet assistance: a representative meets you after passport control, helps with the formalities where available, and escorts you to your waiting vehicle.

It is particularly worthwhile for weddings and groups arriving together, for elderly travelers, and for anyone landing after a long journey. Availability is confirmed at booking.

Leaving Marrakech is simple: check-in counters open two to three hours before international flights, and the airport's small size means the process is quick by big-city standards.

For departures, the airport is about twenty minutes from most hotels, and pre-booking a transfer removes the last-minute uncertainty. For onward travel, the city's train station connects to Casablanca and the coast, and many guests combine Marrakech with Essaouira or the Sahara.
